Just go to Radio Shack and get a on/off/on toggle and wire it up. Thanks to John a forum member I have a wiring diagram that will help you out if you want to do it that way.
I'll see if I can get it, I haven't updated the software on the computer yet ( 6 weeks free with the new Sony Vaio ), so I can't copy and past it. I'll see what I can figure out.
Yes thats right, if you have a problem pin-pointing the right wires I can point you in the right direction on them as well (thanks to John a forum mem. that helped me find them).
Here's were I put it in Robs car, in the ashtray hole. It's not in there yet but the line lock button was installed. I don't think I took a pic of the fan switch, but thats were I put it. http://i12.photobucket.com/albums/a2...z/DSC01069.jpg
Now for the wire's flip the fuse block on it's side, you'll see three square grids. Each one is layed out with A-F at the top and 1-12 down the side. You'll want to look at the grid closest to the passenger fender. Look at F1, dark green wire, and E10, dark blue wire. Those are the two that you will want to splice into.
Are you looking for a temperature controlled fan switch or just an on/off fan switch. Vinci makes a fan controller switch that will turn the fans on/off at programmed temps.
For the $39 version of the same Fan Controller, go to the top of the Forum Home Page, Click on TOOLS, TECH TIPS, C5, and read the "C5 Fan Controller" article I wrote.

i cant get the fuse box to lay over.... any tricks....
so im just splicing into 2 wires and thats all.... no tieing into ing. source or grounding?
It's no easy task to get to the wires, it wont lay upside down but you can get it to lay on it's side. You are taking the cover off and then releasing the little clips on the sides of the fuse box and pulling the top section up to revel the wires on the bottom side of the fuses aren't you? Once you get to the wire you can just soldier to the two that control the fans.
i think if i remove the battery and remove the base, also it will lay down easyer..... i am also trying to locate a decent switch... ive been all over and cant find one. i think ill call SLP and try to get one from them.
also i got some 10-12 gauge splice connectors, and some therostat wire to use..... where did you enter the cab? existing hole
ill post up another question after i find a damn switch.
for fun i called SLP today, and asked why they dont have a fan switch for C5's. , and he said that it ywould be to hard, and the vette electronics makes it impossible? WTF?
he said NO ONE WILL EVER MAKE ONE....?
are you sure this one works? just splice into the 2 wires mentioned above and tie in a switch?
its just you make it sound so easy, and SLP makes it sould impossible?
It deff. works on the car I just did a couple weeks ago. And works good. I got my switch from Radio Shack, they were the only ones that had a switch like that, local anyway. If you were closer I'd hook you up.
installed the switch, 180stat, oil/filter change, drained coolant and refilled with distilled water, and 1 1/2 bottles watter wetter.
and across the board ive seen a 10-20deg. diff.
in traffic the car would allways go to around 220F. and now when i hit traffin or a long light, just turn on one of the fans on low... and it wont go above 199F. cruising on the high way with the a/c on its around 190-195F... i drove about 100miles today, and i never saw above 200F....
so i would say, the little bit of work was worth it.
