Default A/C, minimal air flow problem, need help

It doesn't seem to matter which mode setting I use, there is only minimal air flow coming out of the vents. Running high fan improves it a little bit but something is not right. It is almost like something is blocking either the intake or outflow.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tom

I have a similar problem and a possible cause. Put the fan on high and move the ventilation selector to all the different positions (feet, face, defrost, etc). I think you'll find that air is coming out of all the vents at all times and that is why none of the vents have a strong flow. I stumbled across a post describing how leaking acid from the infamous factory battery ate into the small vacuum line that powers all the vent controls. Splicing in a new section of vacuum hose solved his problem. I hope to check that in the near future. Can you let me know how you solve your problem; it will probably solve mine as well?

Default air flow = BATTERY ACID

Similar problem . Take out battery. Find hard plastic hoses going into 2 separate wiring harnesses. Remove MOST of the plastic hose down to the check valve and into the harnesses. If you DON'T you will be doing this fun job AGAIN AND AGAIN. I did it 3 times and finally broke the ckeck valve. See my post abt a month ago for details. Have FUN.

Had the same problem, the cause was the battery, seems it cracked and the hoses below suffered from the acid. I was never the same even when repaired by the dealer. Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions. Before I saw the reply re: battery acid I tried running the fan on high and changing modes with out any luck. I then disconnected the battery, waited a few minutes and then reconnected it. The air is now back flowing where is it supposed to. However, if it acts up again I will pull the battery and inspect the vacuum hoses underneath.
Thanks again for the responses.

Default My Imagination

Well, I thought resetting the computer worked. WRONG! Anyway, today I pulled the battery and sure enough, the thing has and IS leaking like crazy. Battery acid everywhere eating everything in sight including the vacuum line which is absolute toast. Brittle as all get out. This is very upsetting as the battery NAPA 5075 Professional Line is less than a year old. It leaking so badly that I'll have to get it replaced before putting a battery back in the car.

I just want to thank those who have been this route before for all of their insite and helpfulness. THANK YOU!

Glad you found problem, I had same thing, make sure you get into wiring harness to check complete vacuum lines. I would also suggest Orbital or Optima batteries that claim to minimize leak problem.

Aah, sorry to hear it was the battery, use a ton of baking soda disolved in water and flush the area many times over. There's alot of wiring as you know.

Would anyone happen to have a picture of these vaccuum lines and check valves? I took my battery out last night, and removed the battery tray. Not exactly sure that im looking for. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

My friend,,,,, ,,,,,, If you are going to fix this issue correctly,,,, you have a LOT of work to do. You MUST neutralize ALL the acids residue. Numerous Baking soda applications and rinses.

Then you have to clean, treat and repaint any portion of the frame that has corrosion.

Then,,,, you have to DISCONNECT EACH electrical connection in that area and inspect the wiring for any corrosion and damage... Especially the connectors and wiring for the TAC Module and PCM!!!!!

Here is an example of what happens to electrical connections exposed to just the ACID VAPOR:

After careful cleaning:

If you don't take care of this now, it will degrade into a whole host of very strange electrical issues!!! TRUST ME!

Here is where the vacuum line enters the main wiring harness behind the engine:

Here is where it connects in the passengers fender well:

Oh,, By the way,, The area under the battery should look pristine like the frame in the picture!
