Default Weight transfer experts, inside please...

I am getting conflicting opinions on trying a set of adjustable shocks on my 2000 C5. It has the "magnetic ride" option, which I think is correctly termed the "F-45" suspension. I am reading a lot on the QA1 shocks, but they have the asterisk at the bottom line that usually says "Not for the F-45 suspension cars!! I think that it must screw up the BCM, and activate the traction control and/or the active handling. I am really needing some extra help as far as the traction is concerned. I have gotten down to a best of 1.88 for the 60' time, but this was only once, with most of them in the 1.95 range being the best it will do the rest of the time. Usually in the 2.0-2.1 range. The car has an A4 w/3200 Yank converter and 315/30/18 Michelin PS2's out back with 3.42 gears. I can break the tires loose most every time at 65mph. The 1.88 is the only time it has ever broken 1.9 in the 60', and this was only after dropping the pressure down to 23lbs or so, which really puts the hurt on trap speeds. I know there are stickier tires available, but really think that more weight transfer would be just as beneficial, as it seems that the car is too level during hard acceleration. Help!!!! PLEASE!!!!

I would guess they say not for F45 cars because the computer gets upset if it doesn't see the original shocks plugged in. You can get simulators that plug in though and allow you to run any shocks you want without the computer throwing codes.

A couple of things to try are:

-Put more air in front tires (I use 40 pounds)
-disconnect or remove front sway bar
-set the F45 control to tour

I run the 315/30/18 BFGs and I have them down to about 16 pounds of air.

Hope this helps!

Do you know where to pick up these sims? I have only seen the O2 sims for the ECM, nothing for the BCM, as yet. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Are they DR's? Or what? I have dropped the psi to 23 or so, as stated, but I feel that dropping it this low, or lower, as in your case, would consume a lot of power, say after the 100mph mark, and even though it will help e.t.'s, it would ultimately reduce the maximum potential of the e.t./mph ratio (ultimate time to speed). It would seem that a "quick disconnect" for the sway bar would be the ultimate solution ( along with adjustable shocks), though I have yet to see a set-up for sale. Thanks for the help.

I do run the BFG drag radials, sorry I did not make that clearer.

If you start out at 16pounds and do a decent burnout I am sure the pressure in the tires is greater than 16 for the run? I consistently run in the 116-118 mph range. I think with skinnies up front I could improve my et or even with 17 inch rims.

The et, in my opinion, is affected most by what happens in the first 60 feet. If you get that down your et will come down proportionately.

You need to lower the pressure in your tires in order to get that lower 60 foot, IMHO.

Good luck to you.

Or you can have someone With Tech II (Dealer) to turn the F45 option off
