Default Ignition Switch Code Question

In checking for codes, B 2723 keeps showing up. I know this has to do with the Pass Key Circuit. Does it mean I have a bad ignition switch or is it a BCM problem? The car is a 2K Vert and it starts and runs fine. The only thing I have noticed is there seems to be a greater than usual power draw on the battery if the car sit for awhile.

Bob tells me to reset the code and try the other key, hoping that you have one.

I would first try cleaning your key and the resistor pellet with alcohol. If it is dirty, it could cause the BCM to not read the pellet correctly. I had issues with my lock cylinder and replaced it because my issue slowly got worse to the point that the car would go into security mode every time I tried to start it. I then had to wait 3 minutes until trying it again at which time it usually started. I think if your lock cylinder is worn to the point of being replaced, you would have issues starting the car because the BCM wouldn't be able to read the resistance of your key correctly.
