I am thinking about removing the radiator from my 01 coupe. Is there anything special I will need as in tools? Is this a hard task to undertake? Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Ya, its not too bad. The hard part is the fan shrouds, it helped to drop the front sway bar to get the fans out. You drop the fan shroud out, then pull the radiator out the top. I only used ramps to get the front end high enough to get the fans out. When putting the fan shroud back in it may be helpful to get the car a little higher. On ramps the fan shroud had to be manipulated a little to get it out, and wrestled with to get back in. Automatic transmissions make the job harder…
The electrical connections are clips, and there are also clips that hold the electrical wires in place, both can be undone with a flat head screw driver.
I did not have luck with the stock drain ****, but since I was replacing the radiator I did not care. Hopefully someone can give you better instructions on how to drain the coolant.
I did it by myself and it was not too bad at all, it took a while because I work really slowly...
I pulled both the fans and the radiator from the top, but seperately. The fans lock into tabs on the radiator, and you push the fans one way and then tilt and they come right out. Just undo all the electrical connections and wire holders first. Radiator pops right out after that.
