I know that I've seen other postings concerning this, but what is the easiest way to turn off the DRLs. I understand there is a fuse that can be pulled (which one and where is it located). Also, does pulling that fuse cause other lamps not to work, DIC warning, turn signal INOP, etc.?
I just can't imagine having to through all kinds of work to replace this bulbs and since they're on most of the time, a lot of C5 owners will be replacing these a lot sooner than expected.
I think fuse #2 are the approach lights which means that maybe the lights won't come on at night when you hit the unlock.
The only way I have discovered is to pull the two relays in the Instrument Panel Electrical Center (#38 and #40), remove the relays from the panel, remove the covers of the relays, insert some type of thin, non-conconductive material between the common and normally open points and then replace the cover and relays.
You might want to reconsider disabling the DRLs. I pulled the fuse and took the car on a long trip only to return and decide to replace the fuse.
I felt that without the DRLs other cars could simply not see me as well as I wanted and I did not want to turn on my headlights for tunnels and other areas where the signs said to turn on lights. Another reason is that I tend to exit the car and head to the back of the car and then hit the remote lock button. The white rear lights at the license plate are also disabled when the fuse is pulled. This was an inconvenience I chose not to continue so I put the fuse back in place. :nopity
You can do what I do, just turn on your fog lights (as the DRLs turn off). They are not as noticable - but still get the eye of someone if you are passing them in the side mirror ..
As RedLandRocket mentioned, the approach lights are disabled....other than that, it stores several codes, but does NOT set a check engine light. I've forgotten just which codes are involved. I'm perfectly happy with the results of removing the #2 fuse.
