I had to take my 2000 hardtop in for the lazy eye, fuel gage, and column lock fix. Took it to Crown Dublin last week on tuesday night for an appointment on Wednesday, called them at 2:00 wednesady afternoon and they had not even started on the car. Needless to say, I did not get it back in time to take it down to the ALMS at Laguna Seca. Picked it up this Monday, and the car was filthy inside and out, they did not even clean up their mess all over the console. Is it just me, or what, I think when you buy their best car, every Chevy dealer should try to keep you satisfied, the least they could have done is detail the car before I picked it up. It was clean when I took it in to them. I never let it get that dirty, there was even bird crap on it! Of course I took it home and gave it a proper washing immediately! I guess I should be happy, the last time they touched the body work (they had to fix a crack on the inside of the deck lid) they scratched it, and it took two additional visits to get it fixed. I did not find any scratches this time, thank god (for them!) :mad

I used that dealer some years ago, they had the car for over a week and when I finally went to pick it up. within the first stop light the car died with a dead battery.
While waiting for a tow truck I found parts of food all over the drivers side.
In short, someone was using the car to have their breaks everyday and eat in the car while burning up the battery blasting the radio while stuffing his fat face and that dealer did not even say they were sorry :(

My last visit to chevy dealership, I scheduled 10 days in advance. They kept it four days for minor repairs, the car went in impeccably clean (inside/out), came back absolutely filthy (inside/out).
And to top it off, one of the ******** stole my tools! I had a brand new $50 craftsmen ratchet set in the trunk and I noticed it was gone that weekend. *nobody* has access to my car so I know it was taken while at the dealership.
Sad thing is, I will take it back to them soon for more repairs as I have no other reasonably close place to take it.
Oh well, the $50 in tools is cheap compared to the tens of thousands more $$$ I would have to spend to get a car that gets killer service (BMW/Mercedes).
Re: Another Bay Area Dealer that does not get it! (rzuff)
Saw your post, let me know how you do with Fitzpatrick. I must be crazy to have taken mine back to Crown after the rear-end debocle. At less than 2,000 miles the rear-end would whine loudly whenever I put my foot on the gas. Took it in to them, they at first said "we will look into it but we do not beleive it will be warranty", the boneheads wound up replacing the rear-end. Took them 3 weeks, they claimed the factory mislead them, then the replacement was damaged in shippment. At the same time, they noticed an oil leak from the engine, turned out to be the oil filter was not tight (the original filter), they attempted to charge me $25.00 to tighten it! They did offer me a Ford Escort for the three weeks though! :mad

Has anyone tried the local dealer in Livermore, Groth Brothers, do they even have a Corvette mechanic? BTW All Are Red, does your car have a custom plate?

A friend of mine went to the local Livermore Chevy dealer for an oil change on his C4. They had the hood open when they raised the car on a lift. The hood hit a florescent light fixture. It scrached the snot out of his hood. Well, everyone makes mistakes but they tried to hide it. They hoped he would drive off and not see the damage :mad . Then they did a bad paint job to try to fix it. He had to turn the whole mess over to his insurance company.
Yes I have a personalized plate buy it's not ALL R RED. I chose DRIVN-OT for driving overtime. I have worked overtime since 1996 to pay off my car which I did last month
Re: Another Bay Area Dealer that does not get it! (All Are Red)
Well, I had hoped Groth would be a good one, sounds like they are more incompetant than Crown. I had a feeling you had the plate you do, I drive by your car quite often when it is in the garage, or you are doing like I often do and cleaning it. I live in your same neighborhood! Might have to stop by when you are out sometime. :seeya

It is disappointing to hear a lot of Chevy dealers service standards stink.
Not all however are that way. I have been treated so well at my dealer I have a hard time imagining what a lot of Forum members are having to go throught with.
We need to post who the good service dealers are for our Vettes. I can tell Forum members in the Phoenix area that Thorobred in Chandler has been first class in servicing my Z06.
I also think we should post the names on the Forum of the crummy servicing Chevy dealers on Corvettes.

So far I've only needed oil changes and some minor warranty stuff but I've been well treated and pleased with Ellis Brooks in the city. Kevin, service writer, is extremely conscientious and professional. It's a long drive from the Dublin/Livermore area but with my limited experience with Chevy dealers, they've been easy and agreeable to work with.
Re: Another Bay Area Dealer that does not get it! (pewterhdtop)
Sorry to hear about you all's problems with the dealerships. I wish you guys had a dealership like Bill Heard Chevrolet there. My car has been in a few times for repairs and everytime they have detailed it before I picked it up.
Re: Another Bay Area Dealer that does not get it! (pewterhdtop)
jmho, but I would rather get it back dirty than have one of their yard monkeys "detail" it and end up getting it back with a bunch of swirls in the paint. I can spritz the fingerprints off with Z6 in 5 minutes. My service writer is under instructions: do NOT wash the car!
Generally, I have not had the negative experiences you mention, but it's never been in for an extended stay. My service dealer has made a couple of mistakes, but they've accepted the responsibility and made it right - Quality Chev in Escondido is a pretty good place to go for service around here.
