Granatelli MAF install
Does the unit simply bolt on, or are there other setup requirements like computer programming? I want to get into these types of mods but I know nothing about the tweeking/tuning I read about here. Help greatly appreciated!
If I recall, I think some of the guys here tried this MAF, you speak of, with alot of disatisfaction. I'm sure someone else will chime in........I think. Or maybe were disatisfied with the company. My memory sucks!
It's plug and play.
The issue is that the PCM can only auto adjust for about a 20% increase in airflow.
If you use a higher flow MAF in combination with a high flow air bridge and/or a cold air intake that increases air flow, it can put you outside the acceptable air volume parameters the PCM can accept and you will have to get a tune.
I don't have one but the general opinion here is that they are not worth the trouble.
If you have a 97-2000 LS1 a good aftermarket MAFS that works is MTI Racings composit MAF, uses the stocker center section (where the heated elements are) with bell shaped ends that bolt onto the stock center piece. No screen and no air foil on the aft end piece. Dyno test showed about 5 rwhp, 6 rwt gain with no ecm issues (I have one on my 2000 frc).
