proper plug, gap and removal
Have a slight miss at idle. Pulled a plug after a huge struggle getting the boot off. Then to my surprise there was a metal sleeve with a spring on the end of the plug wire..I found a Denso plug at .06 gap. Looked in the manual and thats what it called for. I talked to a parts guys and he said it should come with A/C delco plugs??
Long story short - what is the proper plug, gap, is wire sleeve with spring supposed to be there and is there a trick to getting the boots off easily and plugs out. I would think after todays adventure - it would take 5 or 6 hours just to change plugs.
I've read a lot about Bosch Platuim double fire plugs are they ok, do I need to change wires or any other parts if I put them in? Thx Len
just kidding.. they are a pain to remove. takes some twisting while pulling. i broke one on the second wire attempt and had to replace them. most likely if yours are old they have been pulled to replace the plugs and the inside wire is cracked or the ends pulled slightly loose and could cause a miss also. the plugs can last a long long time if they are the platnum type. i am not at home to look up the gap but it seems it was pretty big. delco was what was in mine. i replaced the wires with the msd red wires. they have the same ends that the red factory wires have, seemed strange they would usse the SAME ones name and all. said delco on them. my point being, i dont think they are worth the more money over the gm stk replacements.
most of these have a little miss feel at idle.
usaully wires/plugs cause a miss under load

AC Delco Iridium 41-985 Gap = .040
You will find different plug gaps for other manufacturers, but .040 is for the 41-985 Delco's

You are correct, the Delco's are pre gapped. I'm just from the old school that checks them for the hell of it. Never know when someone dropped one on the work bench after looking at it.
