I have the high flow ends on my 97 C5 and it works great but I got some for my 2000 Trans am and it made it ping like hell. So pretty much it works good on some and not so good on others.

On a stock motor I would stay with the stock MAFS. With a h/c/hdrs car, especially with an agressive cam, the additional breathing will make a difference. I doubt you will gain much if anything on a stock LS1and there is the potential for timing probs, depending on which one you buy.

One of the better composit MAFS for 97-2000 LS1s is MTI Racings unit for about $299.00. It uses the stock center section with bell shapped ends and no screen. Maybe 3-4 rwhp on a stock motor.

If you don't already have one, a bigger bang for the buck would be a good cold air intake.

Just my experience, hope this helps.
