Default OK to remove air dam?

To begin things off, I have a front mount intercooler that blocks off most of the air going to the radiator and the car overheats with the A/C on. So, I bought a Big mouth air dam to direct more air into the radiator but because of the intercooler I was unable to mount it like the directions showed. I had to removed the stock plastic air dam on the bottom of the car to fit this in. My temps are fine now, I'll have to recheck them in the afternoon when it's a lot hotter outside.

Is it ok to have removed that air dam? Is it an aerodynamic piece, just for looks, or what?

Not for looks, it has a purpose.

Is it just to direct air into the radiator? If so, I think I have that covered now since my temps are good now.

It helps in directing air up to the radiator, temps could rise possibly leading to overheating issues. imo its better to leave it on. Or just keep an eye on your temps.

Ditto. It's there to direct air over the radiator. If you take it off you will almost definitely run into cooling issues.

As JS pointed out, the air dam, along with the side pieces, reduces lift at high speeds. Since you've got the cooling under control, I'd try to see if you can remount it close to its original position. If it's forward or back an inch or so I don't see that being a big deal. JMHO

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

OK thanks, that's what I wanted to know. I guess I'm going to have to look at moving my intercooler up a little so I can put the air dam and the bigmouth in.

Thanks for the info.

Have to be VERY carful parting near those stop bars. The big mouth doesn't move that much does it?
