Default electrical help

Guys,
could use some help...I installed a elec rear view mirror. Thought I got it working but the map lights did not seem to work right. Long story short, I crossed the black/brown wire behind the rearview mirror and now the green light on the mirror doesnt come on...... To make it worse I turned the headlights on, they went up and came on but they are now stuck in the up position and will not retract. The lights will come on and off with the switch.

I checked the fuses, can't seem to find one out. Any ideas?

Can't help on the mirror.

I managed to blow a fuse when I was fitting my Euro headlights. Same symptoms with the lights stuck open. Turned out it was an obscure apparently unrelated fuse on the passenger footwell panel. #6 I think but I could be wrong. Try a trial and error check of the fuses on that panel if its not that one.

OEM C5 corvette auto dimming mirror has LEDs for map lights; power on ckt is different than aftermarket autodimming mirrors with incandescent bulbs for map lights. To use incandescent map light mirror a relay needs to added. You need to search for that information... lovecars.com used to have a detail on the relay use, it is not on their site now.

Default thanks

Deegee...thanks!! you were right on & I got power again Now back to what caused me to create this problem. I installed the oem mirror and followed the instructions at http://www.c5forum.com/diy/electro_mirror.php but the mirror is not working correctly. The "green" light does come on with the parking/headlights on but the maplights are not working right. When I turn the key to "run they come on and stay on, when I open the doors they dont come on, when I turn the interior switch to "on" they also dont come on. Any ideas????I know this must be a small wiring issue but i can seem to figure it out.

Sounds like you may have them wired to the light that comes on and stays on to light up the console shift area. Small yellowish light in the center. If so the lights will come on at the times you say. Sounds like you need to go back to the wiring diagram.

Sorry, I can't offer any wiring help. On my vert there is a light in the middle between the two map lights that comes on at night and has no switch to turn off. It lights the console/shifter area dimly all the time. I just thought maybe you had your map lights wired to that feature bypassing the switches for the map lights. I'd have to see a specific wiring diagram, but if the map lights won't turn off you definitely aren't going through the switches with the 12 volts or ground, depending on which way they are wired. Wish I could help more.
