I did some fine tuning this weekend to get my fuel trims in line. I had everything working perfectly, but now this AM I get the dreaded rear O2 sensor code (P0420).
If I tune out the rear O2's in EFILive, am I going to fail emissions? They hook up a OBD cable when they check cars here. I'd do the O2 sims, but they always peek under the car, plus if I can tune them out why spend the money.
If you edit out the rear O2's what will happen as far as the "System Readiness Test Results", will the cats be listed as Ready or Not Ready? You can check it with the EFILive scan tool (shift + F5). If only the cats are listed as not ready then I think you will still be OK but I'm not up on TN smog laws. Even in CA the smog ****'s let us have at least 1 monitor "Not Ready" and we can still pass if every thing looks ok and it's clean.
I turned mine off. Just passed emissions about two weeks ago. I bet I could take off my cats and nobody would bother two check. When you turn off the o2 sensors the IM Flags default to ran and passed.
