Anyone have the part # for the front ride height bolt (that goes through the front spring)? I found the bushing on mine horribly mangled this past weekend and need to replace it.
Bad news: there isn't one. GM only supplies those with the spring.
There are aftermarket adjusters you can buy, or you can try what I did. I pulled the adjuster bolts out of the spring (you might have to disconnect the lower shock mount to get the lower control arm down far enough to screw it out) and cut/wire brushed the remainder of the old rubber bushing off.
Then I took the bolt down to Home Depot and found a neoprene plumbing cap the right diameter. Glued it onto the adjuster with silicone, let it cure (waited 12 hours, IIRC), then reinstalled. It worked great! You might want to cut down the sides of the cap down a bit, just make sure you keep a good cup around the edges of the adjuster head.
Ouch, that stinks. Thanks for the tip though. Fortunately the motor and cradle is physically out of the car and there are no pesky shock absorbers in the way. I'll pull the bolt out and see if the bushing can be repaired or replaced with something else.
Tony, there's a forum vender selling a regular bolt...that you bolt through the bottom of the spring, and place a Delrin cap over the head of the bolt.
It looks like something that could easily be duplicated.
The C5 and the C6 adjusting bolts are the same bolt size and thread pitch I used these on mine to get it a little lower in the front with out cutting my stock bolts just an option for you. I did have to split the a arm to install.
