the widest race seat that I know of that will fit in a C5 is the Sparco Evo 3 which is a pretty big seat. based on that I would think It would fit, but you can get the demensions of the Evo 3 off the internet and compair to be sure.
What are you using the seat for? Daily driver isn't going to like that seat and it looks like you won't be able to use your stock seatbelt since it would sit on top of the sides instead of up against your hips. For road course/autoX work, there are plenty of seats designed for that purpose out there. As far as weight goes, you can get some nice carbon fiber seats for just shy of $2K, but that's out of my budget. Personal opinion, 3-4 lbs difference between different racing seats is not worth giving up comfort. Just compair the seats with the certifications you want and get the one you are most comfortable in.
Thanks guys. I am just after the lighest/most confortable seat avaible without paying an arm and a leg. I only drive my car on the weekends and occasionally go to the track. Which ones woudl you guys recomend? Also, I am guessing I will lose my power seat function on the drivers side correct? I mean would the kirkey seats be comfortable enough for the street?
I'd recommend looking into something like the Sparco Roadsteer for a dual use seat. It's kind of a middle ground between a full blown race seat which is a pain for day-to-day stuff (trust me) but still more supportive than a stock seat and without the high sides, you can use either an OEM 3-point belt or a 6-point harness.
Comfortable for the street?? how good are your kidneys??
the Kirkey and the Ultra-Shields are a thin piece of fabric over an alumium shell. Light as heck, great on the track, street driving, but then again I run a T1 suppension and 12" front and 13" rear tires so I feel every blasted bump and crack on the road.
I've been thinking about getting the Corbeau A4. Many people here have installed them. They offer more support than the stock seat but retain the adjustable recline. Corbeua also sells the seat rails for installing them in the C5. To my knowledge the A4 is the only aftermarket reclining seat that will fit in a C5.
This is the Kirky roadrace 10% layback 16" wide. Note it is all the way back and about to hit Crossbar. This is not a great street seat nor is it partcularly easy to get into. Great race seat.
