Okay vette guru's... my pasenger window quit working. I press the window button and all I get is a clicking sound. Do I have a bad motor or a bad regulator ?

Default Window motor

I'd say it's the worm gear/drive gear in the window motor that's gone bad. If so, replace the whole thing - www.rockauto.com - $74.79 w/$15.00 Core.

If I'm wrong, the window relay is $17.57 at the same place.

I changed the motor on my El Dorado - easy, about 1/2 hour.

I had the same problem in my 04Z06 a few months ago. A search on the forum suggested the problem can be fixed by holding down the "window down" button and slamming the door several times. If it doesnt work, try it again. Fixed mine and hasn't been a problem since.

Button down-door slam is definately the first option. That may free it up again; for a while anyway. If that doesn't work you're looking at a new regulator in most cases.

Do this, it will work:

Open the passenger door with the key in and in the 'ON' position. Repeatedly press down on the passenger window switch while banging your hand on/around the handle area (inside).

It may take you 100 times or so (couple of minutes) but they break loose almost every time.

Afterwards, make sure you roll your windows down at least twice a week. They get stuck in the 'up' position.

The "Fonzi" method worked for me too. I held the button down, and it only took ~10 good whacks. Works fine now.

Yes, it's the same principal as slamming the door. It jars the motor and gets it working again.

Kinda reminds me of the "EMMIT FIX", from Andy Griffith Show. Where Emmit would Bang on a toaster and It would start working. Is this in the ZO-6 or all C-5's?
