Default Help deciding on Header

Just was wondering what header would be best for my setup. (2002 Z06)I am installing a honker now and eventually will be doing a cam/head package. I am looking forward to enjoying my car as a daily driver, so I am not looking for the highest increase in "rwhp @ 6000 rpm" . I believe I have narrowed my choice down between LG's with cats or 1 3/4 American Racing Headers. And I will tune my car after installation of all parts. Thanks in advance for all the help guys.

I have the Vette Doctors American Racing Headers and love the quality of the welds and the construction and the sound is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not to mention the HP gains I have seen on various cars. Also if your installing them yourself there very easy to install

I am running QTP's, very happy with them. I don't think you can go wrong with either of the last two you have narrowed it down to. If you are looking for power in the lower part of the power band, between the two you mention I would pick the LG's due to the longer tube length before the collector. In general terms, this will aid in keeping the low end power better than a shorter length pipe.

For the easiest to install the American Racing Headers are the best, also the quality and performance are second to none !!

Most powerful, easiest to install, best price, best overall product. If you want the best, buy the best LG's is the only way to fly. Not only the best product, but also the best service.

Think about the design; we have LG Pro's w/ hi-flo cats. Many clamps/slip joint's. If I hadda do it again, I'd probably go American Racing cuz of the flange joints, less clamps, staggered x-pipe so clamps don't oppose.

LG most likely make more "power" but are you really gonna notice another 2 rwhp every day at cost of ease?

I think not.

And listen to vettenuts, that guy did 'mad' research before he picked his header; so he's got the scoop.

I have the Dynamaxx headers, and even though they look great, and fit really well, there is one thing I don't like about them, and I wish I would have went with the LG headers! And that is how the collectors bolt up. My main problem is because I intalled a WB O2 sensor. But even without it, getting to the top bolts are a PITA. With the LG/s they dont' use the 4 bolt collector, and use a slip fit with a band clamp. It's much easier to tighten up.
As you can see and imagine in the pic, there is hardly any room to swing a wrench on the top bolts. Especially the ones in the center.

Another vote for American Racing. I've got their entire system with Corsa Indy's on my 04 coupe and could not be more pleased. Vette Doc's did a great job on the install and tune. Good luck and Happy Vetting!
