Note, I do not mean that negatively.... just that I would think if anyone would appreciate a simple, functional fix it would be you
For what it's worth, the breather works better than the complicated/expensive options I've seen out there.
Yep, that was me that said that new gaskets are not required when changing a cam in a 12K mile car....
I never said it didn't look functional and would be a great performing mod for someone. I just know Icould make one of those for about $20. dremel a hole in your oil cap and go to autozone and get a filter and some JB weld. You can even get those filters in 3 different colors at the zone....
If I wanted great looks only like the above did I would get some nice valve covers and a nice billet filter.

Gotcha I dunno about the price, mine came with my TT kit. The one thing I will say that is nice about this breather is that it requires no modification to the valve cover, you just unscrew your old cap and put this one in.
I've had breathers in the past that required you to remove the oil fill neck (which usually resulted in breaking it) and install their own neck to sit the breather on. The breather would then sit at the angle of the valve cover and be more succeptible to oil pooling in the breather and falling on the headers.
Once I have my car running and dialed in I am going to go a similar route to what you said, get some nice valve covers, relocate the coils, and run some hose to a couple of hidden Moroso breather tanks.
Is there a baffle beneath the oem oil cap?...if there is no baffle (I would suspect not under an oil cap), then installing an open breather filter over the non baffled valve cover might result in oil seepage under certain conditions. Otherwise, I agree that one would make their own breather like that with some time and creativity.
As to appearance, maybe a traditionally shaped cylindrical filter would look better than the cone shaped filter (IMO).
Got mine from ls1speed.com for like $44.00 it replaces the oil fill neck screws right into the valve cover. My honest opinion it looks much better then the ECS one.

If I remember correctly that one does not have a baffle system like ours. Here is the underside of ours as you can see the baffle.

I have a question that maybe you guys can help me with, not to steal the post. I installed a FAST90/90. Ls2 throttle body doesn't have the breather line from the valve cover, I installed a breather on the valve cover, is that letting air into the motor?

The breather will let air flow either way...in or out. It will also let oil flow out if there is enough pressure. This happened to me 2 weeks ago at the track. But also at the track I put in an extra qt of oil.
Your options are (and I have tried the first 2 and just hooked up option 3 tonight)
1. Stock LS2: hose line frome valve cover to airbridge
2. Air Breather on valve cover tube or Breather built into oil fill cap
3. Vent the valve cover line along with valley cover line (PCV) thru a catch can and into the intake manifold. This puts a constant vacuum on the crank case which supposedly seal rings better and therefore better HP with less oil consumption.
Thanks for the info.
I just wondered, if I was letting air into the motor that could possibly hurt something, or effect performance.
So your saying to place a T fitting into the PCV line before entering the manifold and vent the valve cover through it.

Folks I have an ECS breather and it is a quality piece that does what it was designed to do. It also adds just a little bling to the engine bay.
Yup, I have one too, and that breather has a lot of advantages.
It has an additional baffle on the underside before anything reaches the wire mesh on the outside.
If any oil does reach that wire mesh, the vertical position, cone shape, and a lip at the bottom keep the oil from dripping and making a mess.
Screws right in with no mods, and no problem with hood clearance.
Soak it in some dishwater to clean.
Can you make one? Probably. How much time will you spend running around finding parts including that second baffle, and putting it together?
What if you mess up the first time and have to buy the parts again and do it twice?
What's your time worth?
Thanks for the info.

But run it thru a catch can first....so no oil is getting into the intake.
I make no claims as to safety.
I also had to have some check valves put in the line because dI was drawing too much vacuum.
But theoretically: vacuum in the crank means better sealed rings and more HP.
I tried a T connection at the PCV before and after, before it makes a whistling noise and after the PCV it won't hold idle. So now I don't know what to do, if I hold my finger over the valve cover vent after 30 seconds or so it pulls vacuum. With the breather connected to the valve cover vent it runs fine but I don't know if it is costing me any power.

PM reply sent.....
Mine made same noise. Check valves decreased vacuum so noise went away and still has vacuum at dipstick.
