Seems sometimes my shifter gets stubborn to shift at times especially during when cold. Its good for bulking my arm but is there a way to lubricate the shifter or is there a shortage of gear oil & where do you check it; manual does not really specify or just not finding it.
Try replacing your transmission fluid with GM Dexron VI automatic trans fluid. If that does work then do a search to find a way to realign your shifter.
My shifting got smoother with Amsoil synthetic trans fluid. That won't help if the problem is in the shifter, but does aid in the smoothness of the tranny.

So far everyone is telling you to change the transmission oil, which is always a good idea to do periodically.
Another thing to look at is the shifter linkage itself. The shifter is connected to the shifter block which has a shaft running through it. I have seen a few of these dry out (including my own) which makes the shifting less than desirable. You have to take the console out of the car as if you were replacing your shifter with an after market one. Lubricate the linkage. Pee on it if you have to......It will work better.
My shifter got "stubborn" as well. Squeeked when moved back and forth, hard to get into first and reverse. "Lubed the shaft" and everything was o.k again.

What do you have to remove in order to get to the shifter block in order to lubricate it, since i think i have the same problem.
OK,,,,,here you go! This is a picture of the shift linkage inside the shifter box. The shaft moves forward, back and rotates side to side. You will need to lubricate that shaft with lithium grease.
When you remove the shift **** you will need to remove the demond key to get the **** off. Use a vise grip and a small hammer. Clamp the vise grip on the key and tap UP on it with the hammer. The key will come out and the **** will screw off:
While your there,,, yopu might as well install a new short throw shifter. You will LOVE IT!!!
Changing the tranny fluid to a synthetic fluid will really improve the shift feel and synchro action. I used Mobil1 Synthetic ATF and WOW! Major improvement in shift quality!!!
Unless you have some other transmission damage, this stuff should take care of your issues!!
I would do 3 things. Change the tranny fluid, lubricate the shifter shat as described and and while you have the console apart adjust the shift linkage using the rusty colored L shaped pin that is in one of Bill's pictures.
Shift Linkage Adjustment
Apply the parking brake.
Remove the shift control closeout boot.
Place the shifter into NEUTRAL.
Press down to engage the shift control neutral lock pin. (The rusty colored L shaped pin)
Loosen the transmission shift rod clamp bolt.
Loosen the shift control mounting bolts.
Check that the shift control locator (on the underside of the shift control) is installed into the shifter bracket on the side of the driveline support assembly.
Tighten the shift control mounting bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
Tighten the transmission shift rod clamp bolt to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
Lift to release the shift control neutral lock pin.
Install the shift control closeout boot.
Release the parking brake.

Bro, thanks for posting the pictures, but what kind of corrosive environment have you been driving your car through? All the metal is so oxidized. Do they spray the roads with battery acid where you live?
I have adjusted my shifter more times than I care to admit, but the various metals looked relatively new...Don't take it the wrong way. Just curious

PS. You don't have to take out the demon key (sometimes a VERY difficult project) to adjust or lubricate your shifter. Just push in the ring that holds the shifter boot on the console and pull it up until it is "inverted" or "inside-out" over the ****. Carefully maneuver the console off, and you have access to all the bolts to adjust it or outright remove it. If you are going to replace the shifter and need to use the boot, shift **** or both you DO need to remove the demon key...
