Hello Folks,
I was at the dealer yesterday thinking of picking up a used Convertible C5(I currenlty have a coupe). The price seemed ok but they added these charges that seemed odd or hidden. These charges include inspection charge, prep, and other misc charges. They also had a extended warranty charge of $1600.00 as an option. Are all these charges negotiable or even legal? We were just looking so didn't really ask the salesman what exactly were these charges. Anyone know? TIA!
I believe it is "legal" :blueangel: to include such charges but maybe "Unethical" :mad if they did not perform the job stated on the pricing but you will most likely never know what they did or did not do. As for extended warranty, you might want to do a surch as I have read a couple of post regarding extended warranty. Here is one that I found, Check it out: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=146491
If you're price-sensitive you'll probably want to buy from an individual, especially if in a state that allows no sales tax on private sales (e.g. Georgia, don't know about others, check the newspaper ads for "NO SALES TAX!" everywhere).

Thanks for the input. The price was $42k with just under 20K miles. I thought it was a good deal especially when the car looked mint. It had all option also.
Thanks for the site above. I did check it out before. I might just have to check out the car again or maybe get a 2002 Z06 instead.
Good Luck!
Also check out Ken Fichtner's Extended Warranty. Any Corvette less than 3 years old with less than 36,000 miles is elidgible for the GM Warranty. And you can do a LOT better than $1600! :chevy

It doesn't matter where you buy it, it only matters where you register it.
If you register in a state w/sales tax, you pay... :(
