I dont know if anyone can help but here is the problem we're having....
Startup:
Engine cranks over normally and fires
RPMs go to 1500 and raise to 2000. Its sits there just fine.
After about 30 seconds we notice the headers will start to glow red, all 8.
Any throttle will send the car to 4k and won't return any lower...
1) The TB is CLOSED, verified by scanner and visual
2) The intake is plugged @ every port
3) We've sprayed carb cleaner on the injectors @ 2000rpm and no change in engine speed
4) We've sprayed carb cleaner around the ports @ 2000rpm and no change in engine speed.
The fact the headers get glowing red almost says either timing or injector timing is off.
Initally the car ran and had a high voltage Cam position sensor code and we found wires that looked like they should be swapped, swapped them and the code went away. Car idled normally but high.
With the timing set to 0 the RPMs still are 1700.
From: Murrieta Ca..... America, fun while it lasted

Red headers..... it's way rich / not enough timing.

I had that happen to mine after I got a mail order tune. It was in the throttle cracker table. They tuned it for a LS2 TB but i had a TPIS TB which they said it was different, I got the next tune back and it was much better with the AC off but with the AC on it did the same thing. Is the TB closed when it is reving at 4K? Might not be even the same thing but that is excatally how my car acted with the new tune. Everyone told me it was a vacuum leak but we couldn't find one.

I had a FAST/LS2 TB on the 346 and we're using the same TB on the 402. It ran great on the 346 so I don't think that's the problem.
After a week hair pulling, Phil discovered that the L76 intake was defective from GM and had major air leaks in the 3 internal support columns. They look like casting defects that slipped by GM QC (or is that an oxymoron)
The good news is I contacted the guy I bought it from and he's overnighting another one that he checked out before sending.
Phil should have it in the morning. New manifold Install and tuning will start in earnest tomorrow.

That would explain why I did not get a call on Sunday...

Wow........wouldn't have seen that coming. Was Phil just chasing a hunch when he pulled the manifold for a look?
