You can order the cable that plugs into the rear view mirror used for the V1 and Escort 85000X50 or you can make your own from a two wire phone cord. I ran mine to the fuse box on the passenger side. Works great.

ok, I tried to trace where the phone cord went, and it goes to a phone connector that has 2 sockets (to snap in a phone cord) in the passenger footwell fuse box area. The windshield cord is plugged into one of those.
then the double socket has a black and red wire that goes to a connector that has an orange and yellow wire.
Is this for a radar detector? or a phone antenna like for onstar or something?
This is my first 6 months with a C5, so I'm learning
I had my C4 for 9 years, it's up for sale

Sounds like a V1 remote display setup. The double phone plug module sends power to the V1 detector, and the V1 sends signals to the remote display through that "splitter". The splitter has two wires that have to be tapped into power.

Just so you know this was not done by GM. The previous owner obviously hard wire installed their radar detector, as many of us have. Mine goes into my rearview mirror for power.

Also, your local Radio Shack has the special crimping tool and plenty of the plastic ends should you need them. Not very expensive at all. I've used mine several times already to repair a plastic end after the little tang breaks off from repeated plugging/unplugging. Works great.
