I use fresh Valvoline SynPower DOT 3/4 fluid in both. I don't think it's specifically the correct fluid for the clutch, but I haven't had any problems with it.

Also haven't had any problems with fluid boiling, but again, mine's always fresh when I'm headed to the track. Autocross isn't quite so picky, but on the track I like to minimize things that can go wrong.

HTH, and have a good one,
Mike

Question, can you mix conventional DOT 3 Brake fluid with synthetic? Such as in the clutch reservoir.

valvoline Synpower Dot3/4 is compatible

http://www.valvoline.com/pages/produ...asp?product=51
  1. Exceeds DOT 3 and DOT 4 specifications
  2. For most ABS, disc or drum brake systems
  3. High boiling point reduces risk of brake failure
  4. Compatible with conventional brake fluids

To the best of my knowledge, all DOT 3, 4, and 5.1 fluids are compatible. DOT 5 is not compatible (or desireable).

For the street and autoX this is good enough for both. For a road course I would go to something with a higher boil point. I use ATE Super Blue for the brakes. I still use the Synpower for the clutch.

BTW - I change out my clutch fluid all the time.

You might want to try Ford High Performance Fluid. I know Ford but...
The choice of many in the Motor Home Forums where overheating brakes can be a major problem, very high boiling point and a great price. I have used it for about 7 years now.

buy yourself a motive pressure bleeder that will make your life easy.

just take out the old fluid from the reservoir and replace with new. then apply the pressure bleeder to the reservoir and pump to 12# of pressure. Open the bleeder valve and wait for the new fluid to come through. If you use the blue it is easy to see the new stuff. Just make sure you dont run out of fluid inthe reservoir.

ATF Blue for both. If you are doing the clutch do yourself a favor and install a remote clutch bleeder!

I am a Valvoline Synpower believer...
I have used it in both my Vette's over the last 3 seasons.

It is a borated ester. it is compatible will all DOT 3 fluids but has a higher boiling point and absorbs less water.

I've used Castrol GT LMA for years now, but that just means it's getting old and there are newer brake fluids out there that are simply better.

Without going to a racing brake fluid, I'm going to start going with Valvoline SynPower.
