Well, the salesman was probably referring to the issue with the original Battery Tender. It wasn't designed for the new AGM batteries and reportedly won't bring them up tp full charge. The Battery Tender Plus, however, works great with all the latest battery designs.

I have a battery tender plus & it works fine.
