I bought a used hurst shifter from another forum member and I am decided to put it on tonight. everything is going great until I am installing the hurst shifter and realize that the stock (4) BOLTS don't fit into the shifter housing correctly.
Does anyone know the correct size bolts that I need to get? I don't want to buy 'em the wrong size and have a problem. thanks.....
I believe they are 1/4-20 but I am not sure. Take your stock bolts to the hardware store and find the appropriate nut to determine the correct size. I think you will need to get bolts that are about 1/2 longer as well. I just did this and used an allen-style bolt on mine. Good luck.

I had one bolt missing when the used Hurst shifter arrived last week. I went to a local ACE Hardware and found the EXACT same allen bolt. Installed it just fine.
You should be able to find what you need at your local hardware store without problems.

The bolts that come with the Hurst shifter are standard 1/4 -20 allen head cap screws that are 1 inch long including the head, and a little less than 3/4 inch of theads below the head.
thanks to all for the help, got 'em. Local home depot had them. I hope I like the way it shifts. wouldn't that suck, all that and then come to find out not what I wanted.........

Hey Zbest, let me know what you think of the Hurst once you give a couple runs. I've been toying with the idea of installing it and curious what others think.
