Default Help with a code please P1416

I pulled this code off my 02 last night; according to the manual this is a problem with the air system bank 2. I checked all of the connections including the fitting on my QTP headers. Everything looks good by visual inspection however I can’t see behind the intake manifold. Reading the troubleshooting for this code in the manual I was thinking the problem might be the check valve.

Anyone have experience or recommendations to correct this

Usually if its one bank only the check valve is high on the suspect list. Unfortunately, bank 2 check valve is behind the intake if I remember correctly and is part of the long metal pipe that attaches to the rear of the head.

Yep, looks like the intake has to be removed to change it. Sounds like a winter project to me. Do you think this will affect performance, it does not seem to.

I can't imagine it would, I think it only tests during startup. The only performance I think it might affect is staring at the stupid yellow light

If I understand the description in the shop manual it will not come on right away, I think it takes something like 30 or 50 start cycles to come up. Guess I will find out. I really don’t feel like taking the intake off again…..unless I can do another mod while I am in there.

Just had the same thing happen. I'm starting to think that if the performance is not affected, and nothing is damaged by it, I might just live with doing the reset for a while. Although mine does not come on at start, but after the car has been driven about 50 miles.

Mine did not come on at start either, it was after 20 miles or so from start up. Its not too bad of a job if we can be sure the check valve will fix it, but I hate to do all that work for a guess.
