Default Code issues

OK Guys.....I'm having trouble deciphering the codes and getting to the "real" root of my problems. I can't possibly have this many codes happen with no advanced warning and they seem to be rather random except for the Oxygen Sensor codes in the PCM Group. I don't get it, these codes have come out of the blue. I've reset them, disconnected the battery and the codes still return.

I have quite a few codes in the PCM Group and few additional codes in the HVAC Group, BCM Group and the RFA Group. I'll include them all below and you guys tell me what you think.

PCM Group

PO131 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 1 Sensor 1
PO135 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 1
PO141 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank 1 Sensor 2
PO151 HO2S Circuit Low Voltage Bank 2 Sensor 1
PO153 HO2S Slow Response Bank 2 Sensor 1
PO154 HO2S Circuit Insufficient Activity Bank 2 Sensor 1
PO155 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 1
PO161 HO2S Heater Circuit Bank 2 Sensor 2
PO171 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 1
PO174 Fuel Trim System Lean Bank 2
P1221 TP Sensors 1, 2 Performance
P1571 ASR Desired Torque
P1644 Delivered Torque Output Control

BCM

BO432 Rear defogger Relay Circuit
B2597 Traction Control System Swith Circuit

Traction Control System

NO COMMS

HVAC

BO361 Left Actuator Feedback Short to GND

Remote Function Actuation

C2100 Left TPM
C2105 Right TPM
U1016 Loss Of Comms PCM
U1064 Loss Of Comms BCM
U1096 Loss Of Comms IPC
U1255 Serial data Line Malfunction

Thanks for taking the time to look at this for me. I'm standing by for any and all feedback.

Check the sticky at the top of tech by Bill Curley on electrical issues. You don't say what year you have but how old is your battery? C5s do weird things when batteries start to go. Also check all of your grounds. You may also what t check that you computer in the pass. footwell is not wet.
Good luck I just finished chasing an intermittant problem that lasted for over a year!

You don't indicate whether these codes are followed by an "H" or a "C". Corvettes generate many codes over time that are "H" (History) codes (especially codes starting with 'U' - communications problems) that you can ignore.

Disconnecting the battery will NOT clear codes. You must manually delete them. See the procedure in "tech tips" on how to display and delete codes.

I'd recommend that you delete ALL the codes stored in the cars various computers and then after driving it for about 30 minutes, see if any codes pop back up.

Any new codes can then be posted on this site and various members can then help you in determining how to diagnose and fix those codes.

Gray Beard -- Sorry! 98' C5. I just changed the battery a few months back. I feel comfortable with the battery. I have not checked that computer in the footwell on the passenger side. I did take my dash aapart a few weeks back and maybe I've disturbed a ground. As of today, the ABS and TC light remains illuminated and I've attempted to reset it. I took a spin and I noticed that I don't have any ABS or TC capability...confirming it's not an indication problem.

Any idea where the ground conections are located??

I hope I don't have to chase this for a year {YIKES!!}

Thanks for the reply!

Steve -- Thanks for the great insight! I've deleted the codes as per your direction (using the tech tips info) Very easy to do...and I'm headed for my drive. I did notice two codes that immediately returned(PCM - 1571 C and 1644 C), but the rest have cleared. I also show no communication with my Traction Control and the HVAC?? Any idea's?

I'll re-post my results after my drive.

Thanks again!

97 and early 98 C5's have "REAR" mounted EBTCMs Late 98-2004 C5's have front mounted EBTCM's For us to properly lead you through the repair, you will need to indicate which one you have! If you see a module on the back of your differential that has a large connector and lots of brake lines attached to it; you have a rear mounted EBTCM.

If you have a module in front of the alternator and between the radiator and the engine on the drivers side, you have a front mounted EBTCM.

Check your BCM in the passengers foot well for moisture. A good indication of a WET BCM will be tons of warning lights that don't really indicate that there really is an issue. I had every warning possible but the car ran FINE! The water will come from a clogged HVAC Air Box drain or a leak from 3-4 areas.

You CAN clear codes by disconnecting the battery! It will clear EVERYTHING! Even your BCM temp memory. Sometimes when you hook the battery back up, it will set a code if it isn't a good clean "quick" hook up.
