Question about 04 fuel tank
I'm taking an 04 CE Vette apart and noticed when the rear tires are removed you can see the both fuel tanks, on my 03 there was a stainless piece that held the bottom of the tanks and then another stainless piece that wrapped around the back side of both tanks but this car does not have the pieces that cover the back sides of the tank, is this part of the later system?

The non-FFS systems used to have an extra shield at the back to protect the senders and wiring going into the tanks. Since the senders and wiring are now on top of the car, there's no need to shield the tanks at the rear -- so GM removed it.

Thanks, It didn't look like there was anyplace to attach the extra piece and I figured it was just another part of the newer FFS fuel system but I still thought it was strange to have part of the gas tank exposed right next to the tire.
