Default follow up...

Well, the dealer said the code indicated it was coming from the left front wheel sensor...BUT that he could not find anything wrong. It would cost $450 dollars for a new sensor and that won't guarantee a fix.

He said to just keep driving it and see if the message appears more regularly. I think its just another "gremlin" acting up again!

Do a search for "Ground" issues. Water on the BCM can give you fits too.

It could be a few problems. If you post the codes someone may be able to tie it down for you. Likely culprits ae the EBCM (Electronic Brake Control Module), the BPMV (Brake Pressure Modulator Valve - I think) or the wheel position sensor. All would cause the symptoms you are seeing and are quite common. The other issue could be bad grounds. Bill Curlee wrote up a great how to which gave a quick fix if thats the problem. I'm sure he'd send you a copy if you PM him. If not I have a copy on file.

Hope you get to the root of the problem.

Check the BIG yellow 40 amp fuse near the battery box in the engine compartment. There is only 1 fuse like that size or color.

First I would check fuse Number 53 then the wiring in the ABS circuits (your C1214). Check the underhood grounds for corrosion and then check your wheel speed sensors which are part of the wheel bearings (C1221 and 1222). Then check the BPMV.

Mine threw a C1214 and the dealer replaced the EBCM under warranty.

Seriously doubt that the wheel sensors are bad!!!!! With a 1214 code showing, you most likely have a bad EBTCM! They are EXPENSIVE and fail frequently. Ask me how I know!

You can start by checking the easy stuff. G-101, drivers side front frame rail next to the area where the hood support mounts to the frame:

The wire eyelet under the black ground connector is the ground wire for the EBTCM.

Separate the ground connector and clean the pins inside:

You also need to check ALL of the wheel speed sensor female connectors. There are two on each front wheel and one on each rear wheel. Make sure that the female pins are NOT spread causing a poor intermittent connection (throws a DTC Code) The connector on the right are over spread and bad!! the one on the left is NEW!

I have only seen one speed sensor fail and that was due to the wires at the hub getting cut! They are about fool proof! I have seen NUMEROUS female plugs fail!!!!!!!!

I read the sensors from the large connector on the EBTCM and verified the resistance AND voltages From each wheel sensor there. If you rotate a wheel, the sensor will output a small AC voltage which will increase with wheel speed. You have to have someone shake each plug while your measuring the resistance of the sensor and see if the agitation causes the resistance to vary. If it does,,,, the plug is BAD!

Each sensor should be around 1100-1400 ohms.

I had this happen also, but I took the wheel of and became very scared! Of the three bolts holding the wheel bearing to the car, 2 were missing and the third was very lose! Might have had a very bad day soon if I did not look.

Good for you. Wheels coming off while driving is not fun and has happened to me. Took my Allante to some idiot to swap my summer/winter rims and a week later my wheel flew off. Luckily that car was a tank and I was back on the road within an hour. Minus a fender and inner. I should still get that fool back someday. Good luck and take care.
