Dealership says the problem with the ABS/Trac lights is the EBCM. They checked codes, wiring harness, front wheel sensors. How do you remove, I've un hooked the harness, I see 4 tork bolts and a lower mounting nut, so what is the best way to remove just the EBCM? I have a new replacement to put back in. The face of the new unit has a face seal o-ring, is this for keeping dirt out or oil in? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The codes that came up were C1232, C1233, C1255
Replaced the EBCM with a new unit I was able to buy for $320.00 and it solved all of the ABS and Traction control issues. The replacement took about 3 hours of my time, couldn't be happier.

I have a 2000 vette I had a shop look at what might be the problem The code was 1283 Excessive time to Center sterring wheel we checked the votage on both the Yaw rate sessor and also the Lateral accelerometer it both showed 2.5 volts but the accelerometer did not stay a at 2.5 but also did not go out of spec. The service active handling lite comes on it always reads warming up. could this be the EBCM or could this be the Lateral accelerometer.
Thanks jeff

I think I need to change mine. $320.00 is a pretty good price for the ECBM. Where did you purchase yours?
And on a 2000 repair is not possible, so just used. I have the same issue with my 2000 and I will not pay upward of $1200 for a 25 yr old used electronic box.
1242 and 1243 are codes not having anything to do with the electronics of the unit. One is a ground issue, the other frozen ABS pump motor. While those can be repaired the actual EBCM electronically cannot be repaired. This is why the two codes they can repair, the mentioned ground and motor faults, are in bold letters. If you're showing C1255 which is internal malfunction, or in other words The Kiss of Death for an EBCM. I have a 2000 with this code, believe me if it could be fixed I would have been on it long ago.
