Is there any downside to putting 19" wheels on a C5? I have 17" and 18" C6 Z06 rims and don't care for the 17" on the front. Thinking of getting two 19's and putting the 18's on the front. ANy drawbacks or regrets?
The ride will be a little harder, and your traction may suffer between the 18" and 19" wheels. Both concerns caused by a smaller sidewall on the tire. They also don't offer a drag radial for a 19" wheel if you decided to go that route.
Personally I prefer the looks of bigger wheels, and that outweighs the performance downsides for me.
I love how 19 inch wheels look. But I weighed all the pros and cons of going 18s all around vs 19 such as
Pros
19 inch wheels fill up the wheel wells better
they give a flashier look
Cons
The ride is a bit harsher with 19s
more chance of bending a wheel because of low profile tires
unsprung weight goes up when you account for 19 wheels and tires leading to less braking distance, slower acceleration and harder steering compared to 18s all around
So I chose to go 18 all around. With the type of roads I drive on, plus the occassional road race event I attend a year, I think I made the right decision.

I'd check to make sure the 18's have sufficient clearance (steering), as they are a wider rim width and a different offset then the normal front wheel.

Which Ever Way You Choose To Go You Have To Keep The 1" Stager Front To Rear Or The Traction Control System Will Not Work!
Plenty of people on here are running 19's (and 18's) all around, me being one of them. No problem with the traciton control. You just need to compensate in the front with a lower profile tire.
i assume everyone that goes with larger wheels gets thinner walled tires... this makes sense so no recalibration is required...
but there is some room between the fender/tires.. actually alot can one get a larger tire to improve traction/ride quality and recalibrate their computer to display correct speeds?
