Buddy has a '98 and he bought a LS6 manifold. He is all up in arms that it will not work on his car, I am pretty certain that it will work just fine on his car. It is a standard LS6 intake and there is nothing different from a stock LS1 intake.
I believe many 2001s and all later model C5s came from the factory with the LS6 intake and block. That would indicate that it wouldn't be a problem for your buddy.
I thought there was some issue with the dual fuel lines on the 97 - 99's. We have a supply and return line, where as the LS6 is designed for just 1, a supply line.
You do have to convert the steam tubes or grind the manifold for clearance I believe, but it will fit.
There is a difference. There is a coolant line to keep #7 cylinder cool. Also you have to grind some ribs down on the bottom and maybe a valley pan from a LS6. I'm sure someone will correct me .
Worked on mine
You will need the two plugs for the back cooalant holes, and the coolant line for the front. This will keep you from having to do any grinding to the manafold. You can get the part #s for the plugs and tubes from the "LS1howto" web site from the "swapping the LS1 to LS6 intakes" Other than the tubes, it's just a quick bolt on

Curious about this post.
I got the plugs and new lines to take care of the coolant lines that run under the manifold. The fuel lines is a concern of ours too.
The only difference in the fuel rail is the whether you have a return styke system or not. The fuel rail itself will mount to the intake no matter what fuel system you have. The only thing you have to do is make sure you have the coolant plugs for the back of the heads and the crossover tube for the front coolant passages. Reason being is that the early style intake has a curved bottom and the late style/ ls6 intake has a flat bottom.
