Default Failed to Start....Why ?

Yesterday after work I go to my 99 to drive home.

Turn the key and

No crank, no clicks, no starter sounds at all
Dash lights up, all gauges powered up
DIC ran Corvette by Chevy then misc messages like low fuel, reduced engine power, and Service Engine Soon, lots of bell tones
Tried both keys

Both Fobs did nothing
Interior, rear mirror, and Hood light would not light
Rear hatch would not open
Window switches dead
Lock switches dead
Radio dead

Headlights and tail lights worked
AC/Heat fan worked

Tried three different battery jumps from different sources, including the tow truck
Check the battery cables

Four hours to get it flat bed towed to the dealer
After we rolled it off the flat bed into the dealer’s service bay, I tried the key one more time……..IT FIRED RIGHT UP !!

Any ideas ????????

Could be a bad BCM or BCM connectors. It can prevent start, and it controls the underhood and interior lights. Could also be the power feed to the BCM, 2 fuses, located in the passenger footwell fuse-box. Also check the BCM ground connections, it has two. See the Bill Curlee thread for the description of the ground locations. I think one is at the base of the passenger door pillar, where the hinge is. The other goes to a "Splice Pack" #208, which I recall is grounded at G104, next to the battery, on hte frame-rail.

could be a lot of different things from what ersatz928 said, bad starter, bad clutch switch or if auto, bad park/neutral saftey switch. Hopefully it acts up for them.

Default Nothing Found ??

Well a Chevy Dealer had it two full days and of course it started every time for them..........they say they cannot find a reason for the Fail To Start.
The good news is they are not charging me for the effort

So I guess I will spend my weekend checking the grounds, any moisture near the BCM, and cleaning the ignition switch contacts.

And keep my fingers crossed

Thanks for all the suggestions,

Jim
