Hello, I just joined last night, this is the best Corvette forum I've visited so far....Anyway, I have a 03 C-5 with 17000 miles on it, my first vette so I'm not sure what to expect as far as performance. It is all stock. It seems like on take off it doesn't have a lot of get up and go. I had an 04 Cadillac CTS with a 3.8 v6 and it was really fast on the front end. One of my friends suggested maybe a dirty fuel filter or pcv valve. Would really appreciate some suggestions....thanks..tom3257 PS I'm not as concerned with top end as I am take off.
Yes if you have an auto it probably has the lame 2.73 gears in the rear end If you change to a different ratio you will have what you are looking for I went to 3.73 with a high stall converter, it is a whole new car now Down side I went through a set of rear tires already
i dont know what you are expecting. unless ya got something wrong with the car it should plant ya in the seat. what happens if ya floor it ? my 01 a4 with the 273,s after a tranny tune and TQ taken out would kick sideways on 1 to 2 shift. after i put 342,s and 3200 stall it was traction issues till z06 rims and tires. if a stick shifter knew how to launch they would jump me ,so what i ALWAYS caught them then waved bye/bye
Welcome to the forum. You will get a lot of good information here from a lot of great people. From what I am reading, I am willing to bet you have the 2.73 gears. But before you start doing any modifications (mods), you need to figure out your goals as far as what you are looking for as to power, handling or both. If you just start out throwing things on your car, you will most certainly be doing some things more then once. Talk to others on the forum before you start spending big $$. You may be looking for some more zip on the take off, but throwing in 3.73 or 4.10 gears will get you that, but will also increase your highway cruising rpm considerably. A combination of gears and a higher stall torque converter may be more of what you are looking for. I have a stick, but I am sure a lot of automatic guys will step in and give you options. Listen to them, so you can learn from their experiences.
Hello, I just checked my glove box and also the added options list of this vehicle. Apparently the original owner paid the extra to have the 3:15s put in. It just seems a little slow on take off. I thought it would pull my head back, without really having to punch it....
