I have another issue about the steering column.I bought the car from the original owner and in 05 he take the car in for the recall. He stated that the column would not unlock.Just about a week ago I had some issues with the car.The steering message appeared on the DIC and the car would not drive everytime I would put it into drive it would cut off.I had to tow it to a dealer for repair. Here's the catch the relay that it needed was in the recall however the steering column actuator was not. Hmmm!! I need to get some answers because I had to come out of pocket for 245.00.Plus a flatbed to the dealer acroos town in Atlanta,Ga.Please help me.
I think the relay harness will actually work with the actuator disconnected. Have the dealer replace the harness k relay harness without replacing the actuator and see if it works.
The lockplate should have already been removed so the column cannot physically lock. All you need is the relay to send the correct signal back to the BCM so it does not cut the fuel.
If for some reason, the GM harness does not fix the problem, you can always resort to an aftermarket CLB, which also leaves the actuator out of the circuit.
What year is your car?
