Default Red Top Optima Battery

Which Red Top Optima Battery fits in the C5?
It looks like there are 6 different models.

From your sig, you mention that you have an 04; I believe GM switched over to a different style of battery terminal (similar to what's found on the C6) sometime in the 04 model year.

The 04+ terminals have a 45 degree bend in them so when they are connected to the battery posts (on TOP of the battery), the cables run down the front of the battery (see pic below).

Earlier C5's use a straight terminal and attach to the posts at the FRONT of the battery, with the cables running down the front as well.

P/N 75-35 (which is what I went with because that's all my local AutoZone had in stock), will work just fine but you will need to either:

a) mount the terminals at a 30 degree angle so that the cables can clear the FRONT post (see pic below).

b) bend the terminal and straighten it out and use the FRONT posts of the battery.

FYI, both P/N 75-35 and 34/78 have TOP and FRONT posts.

P/N 34/78 will work perfectly but it weighs a tad more than the 75-35 and the stocker (5 lbs or so); AND it costs a tad bit more for some reason

The 34/78 will accomodate the newer style terminals correctly where you won't have to mount them at a 30 degree angle or worry about bending them to fit...

And like you mentioned, there are several other suitable P/Ns that work including ones that only have the TOP posts (no FRONTs); hopefully someone else can chime in and list the exact P/N that will work!

The 34/78 has a higher Cold Cranking Amps rating. More plates per cell, etc. That also accounts for the added weight.
I always recommend using the highest Cold Cranking Amps rating that fits and that you can afford.

I love the Red top battery It matches my Fuel Rail covers & It weighs only 32Lbs. I think the yellow top Is even lighter & has more power. I don't have any yellow under my hood so I went with the RED & It hasn't let me down yet!!!

Mine looks just like LoneStarFRC's, so I won't post an image. I'm surprised there are no OPTIMA naysayers to this yet...
