Clutch loses pressure
I have the clutch hydraulic problems everyone hears about. Clutch doesn't slip, you just can't hold the clutch to the floor for more than 3 seconds. After 3 seconds it lets go. It makes parking lots interesting
.I know I need to replace the master and slave cylinder. While I'm at it, I should replace the clutch as well... I just don't want to spend $1300 unless/until I have to.
My question is, which piece is causing the problem. Why can't I hold the clutch in for more than 3 seconds? There is no fluid loss or leakage. I do Ranger's fluid change every month since I've had this issue.
Is it the slave or the master cylinder?
If you do end up changing the slave, I STRONGLY suggest changing the clutch since you already will have the torque tube out of the car anyway.
Jer.
I'm on a McLeod unit now and I like it a lot.
I'd replace that and see if it doesn't fix the problem. Hopefully your clutch still has some life on it and you can get by with the cheaper fix for the moment.
Definitely try the master... if you are not getting obvious fluid leaks you are getting blow by in the seal of the master cylinder..
Happend to me with my Brakes... One pump would hold.. then go to the floor.... I had to keep pumping to hold the car...
Replaced the master.. all was well again!
I also reccomend the McLeod unit because it sure seems like a better build than stock.
Good luck mang!
