Default HELP, where's the sensor reciever located?

Where is the tire pressure sensor/key fob reciever located? I have a new one and need to replace it. What all is involved in replacing this? Thanks!

It's located up under the L/R fender, behind the driver. Depending on which model you have, i.e. FRC, Coupe, etc, will determine if you may have to remove any trim panels or carpeting. It's about 3" or 4" square as I recall and has two plastic antennas sticking out that run for and aft. It is easily removed from it's mounting bracket. Maybe a (lock tab, etc)
Once installed, just do a fob re-learn procedure. I'm thinking a Tech2will not be needed here.

Robert

Since you have either a 99 or 2000, make sure the replacement unit is for your MY car, NOT for a 2001+ (the TPS systems between 97-2000 and 2001+ are not compatible).

Thanks, I got it working again for 2 minutes than the fob stopped working. Hopes it's just the tiny battery.

I replaced the fob battery and it still wont hold the connection. Works for a minute after I re-sync it. I think the fob itself is toast, BUT the DIC is displaying "service tire sensor monitor" and its not showing the tire PSI while im driving (i know you have to be going at least 15mph) any ideas????

Won't you have to re-sync your tire monitors just like the Fobs? They share the same receiving unit.

I assume you did this?

Fob programming
1-Turn the ignition to RUN
2-Turn the radio off
3-Press the RESET button in order to clear any IPC warning messages
4-Press the Option button on the DIC until the IPC display is blank in order to enter the program mode
5-Press and hold the Reset button for 3 seconds
6-Press the option button until FOB Training message is displayed
7-Press the Reset button in order to begin the programming sequence.
8-Simultaneously press and hold the lock an unlock buttons on the first transmitter for 12 seconds. The IPC will indicate when that transmitter is programmed and when to proceed to the next. Repeat this step for each transmitter.

Also I cant figure out how to re-sync the tire sensors... I tried thae magnet trick with one of my subs but it didnt work.

You may very well have a defective or broken FOB that will need to be replaced.
On the tire training, are you saying you couldn't get any horn honks at all? Where did you position the magnet? Just so you know, it doesn't take an "uber magnet" to get the job done. I use a couple small magnets I had picked up a few years ago at an electronics supply store. Each is only about 1 1/4" long x 3/4" wide x 3/8" thick. I place one on each side of the valve stem and in contact with the wheel surface.

not a single horn honk. It said left front tire first so I held the magnet all over that area and nothing.

Now the message came back on to service the reciever itself, but its brand new!

There was a thread several weeks back about a FOB that was broke. The metal band that holds the battery had come unsoldered. I had a FOB that the micro switch came unsoldered. Maybe your problem too?

It looks like dpd is correct about the receiver needing to be programmed.
According to my 98 GM Service Manuals it states:

Receiver Replacement

The service replacement receiver must also be programmed to accept the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) sensors. The TPM system uses the same receiver as the Remote Function Actuation (RFA) system. Thus, the TPM sensors and RFA transmitters must both be reprogrammed.

When you do the tires you have to start at the valve stem and rotate around the lip of the rim back to the valve stem. At least with mine I cant just hold it there it has to be rotated around the rim or it wont work.
