I think you have to take the frame around it off. The door does not really detach from its frame, if I remember correctly. You should be able to figgure out how to do it, there are some screws around the top edge where it closes and one around the side by the passenger door. Then two in back, you have to go through the glove box (it has two plastic hole covers for the access).
