I went to the other thread from '05 and probably missed them, but is there a chance someone has a photo or a diagram that shows the bolt that is to be removed and the washer installed?

Found a photo on this link, 15th post down

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ight=antivenom

FWIW - tried to contact the guy that had the Antivenom machined part and the phone is NG and the web page is gone. I wonder if so many people finding about the 75 cent washer sort of killed off the $60 machined part?

I have done the antivenom and adjusted the linkage and it shifts much better than before the only problem i still have is going into reverse, it is still a bit notchy unless i go from 1st to reverse then its smooth.
Anyone else have this problem?
I highly recommend for everyone to give these to things a try, it will really improve the feel of the shifts.

PS Who would want to order a $60 bolt when you can go a couple of blocks to an autoparts store and get a $1.25 pair of washers.

What can be done to reduce the amount of force needed to go through the neutral gate when going into reverse? It is REALLY stiff on my car to the point that I have to sort of brace against the seat to push hard enough on the shifter to get over to the reverse gate. Will the washer on the bolt affect this?

Couple of posts in here mentioned lube leaks. Would a nylon spacer instead of the copper washer be better for sealing?

When I put my b&m ripper shifter in I took that rusted looking pin out(i think you said allignment pin) out. Is that bad? What does it do?

I don't think you need it since it is in the out position normaly and you put it in only to readjust the shifter.. What it does is it locks the linake shaft in neutral.

yes, this will drastically help with getting the car into reverse and going from one gear to another. another thing to pay attention to is you may be past the gate, but not all the way into gear. to get that last 1/8" into gear let the clutch out very slowly while still lightly pushing on the shifter and you will feel it pop into place.

Sealing really shouldn't be an issue since the bolt sits so high on the transmission, just make sure you have clean surfaces for a good seal.

just make sure to hold on to the pin so you can lock the shifter in neutral for future linkage alignments, alternatively people have used the correct diameter drill bit.

Ended up using one washer... It have me just the right adjustment.. Got it from Ace Hardware.. Home Depot and Advanced Auto had nothing.

Also I used some teflon tape on the threads to ensure I got a good seal.. because it looked as though there was thread locker on it from the factory..

No worries on the pin. A 1/8" drill bit shank fits perfectly. Since I removed the pin and didn't want to leave the hole exposed, I first squirted a drop or two of synthetic motor oil into the hole and then just "wiped" a small dab of black silicone over the hole to seal it. Easy to remove later if necessary. The front section of the shifter shaft is supported at this point and is constantly rotating and/or moving back and forth as you shift. Lubing here is good.

Just to be on the safe side, remind me of the washer dimensions. I think it was 3/4" ID but what thickness? 0.080" or thereabouts maybe?

Charlie

p.s. - I like the dog.

I am pretty sure it was like 1/16" and yes about 3/4"

Where did you guys get your washers at? I just hit Ace Hardware, NAPA, Autozone, O'reillys, and Lowes and nobody had them in the right size.

The washer I got at ACE was a big washer.. stuck out at least 1/4 around the bolt... They were in the Metric Washers.. I think.. Bring the bolt with you.. then you can try them all

I usually put mine into first gear and then into reverse. If I try to go into reverse when it's cold right away it's a little stiff. After I drive a little it loosens up. Is this normal? The car sit's for a week at least between usage's.
