Protection for plug wires?

Protection for plug wires?

Is it worth the effort to put a kool sox type product on my spark plug wires? I have AR headers on my 04 Coupe. Thanks for opinions.

Also just put some ARH on my 04. I was initially debating the kool sox. After a short drive today, I popped the hood and touched the plug wires. They were hot as hell. Just got done ordering the Koolsox from LPE.

I threw them on my plug wires as a precaution after adding headers, I want reliability along with my HP gains (my buddy melted a wire soon after adding headers to his '97). Obviously the install was very easy and I used zip-ties to hold them in place. The only part of the wire that is exposed is the boot on the coil.

I put Summit's tube plug wire protectors on my car when I put the headers on. Headers are coated, but I didn't want to take a chance.

Stock wires with heat shields are fine and work well with headers. If you have aftermarket wires with headers, you need some type of heat protection, or you will eventually melt the wires.

Thanks to all!! I'm going with the ounce of prevention theory. I went ahead and ordered Kool Sox, I got a coupon from Corvette Central, along with some other stuff. Point, click, spend money!
