Two different thermostats?
My 00 c5 coupe started running hot the other day and the temperature was higher then normal.
I assumed it was the thermostat so I went to carquest and bought a new one.
I took the old thermostat off and there were no coils in it basically it was nothing more then a 45 degree bend.
The new thermostat is identical on the outside but has the typical thermostat inside with coils and everything.
did the old one blow up and shoot the parts down the line or somthing?
Are there maybe 2 identical thermostat looking housing and I took the wrong one off?
Any help is appreicated.

the stat is in the waterpump/front cover plate[lower hose connects to it].if this is what you took apart,yes,the internals are inside the cover.
Replaced it filled it back up with dexcool and all works great.
I just dont understand where all the internals of the old thermostat went.
They were just not in there, could they have gone up the line some how and into the water pump?
