Finally got my Z dynoed with my X3 cam shaft installed. It was 40 degrees out this morning in N florida.

Prior to cam SWAP, Lt's with cats dynoed: 378 RWHP 372 RWTQ

with cam and ASP Pully added to above: 409 RWHP 372RWTQ

I thought that I would se 420's - 430 RWHP as mention by the LG guys but I guess I'll have to live with 409

Z drives fine and idles great. Pulls like a raped ape after 4200 all the way to red line@ 6800. What do you guys with this same cam think?

Mike

Um... that sounds a bit off. I'm drooling over a new cam sometime soon and I'd hope for at least 420 w/ the other assorted bolt-ons.

I would think the culprit is in the tune… because on the camaro we put down 420+ 395 tq on a g5x2 with stock heads and pacesetter lt's and pulley. If you don’t mind me asking. Who tuned the car? I would expect 420+ easily.

I have 98' same mods and cam + ported TB and free flow air intake. I tuned and put down 402hp. Get a better tune. With the ls6 you should be at least 30+ over me.

So you picked up about 50-60RWHP with just a cam, Longtube headers and tune... I don't think it is too shabby. Remember, Dyno's vary from shop to shop...if you are at 409RWHP and someone else on a different dyno with same car and mods gets 420RWHP, you are basically at the same power level. Sure when it comes down to tenths at the track, that 10RWHP might make a difference, but day to day I don't think so.
Be glad you got a Z at least to start,, I have heads/cam/headers on my 01 coupe and barely got 410RWHP, although my cam is smaller I am sure than the LG cam.

I think 410 with a cam & LTH is great.

Mike,

I think you have the LG Street series Headers which do not have the merge collectors or 3" X pipe. I would say that you could get up to about 415rwhp with the Street series headers but you will not see the 425-430 unless you use the LG Pro Series headers.

Having said that, you got a great car now and probably have good low end torque.
We always say that the Street Series LG Headers will work best if you plan on a small cam and are not looking for the highest power numbers.

For those who want to see the kind of numbers that we usually see with the G5X-3 cam, you will probably need the LG Pro Long Tube Headers. (if you have the LG Pro Long Tubes already, then call me and we can figure this out.)

But getting about 410rwhp with what you have in your car is very good.

thanks

Sorry I didn't come to TX and have your boys do my install. The 12 hour drive each way was the deciding factor for me to have a local tuner do the install and tune. The whole time it was eating me up inside and I was second guessing my decision that I wasn't at your place. Needless to say I didn't sleep well this past wekkend since I dropped off the car Friday night and finally drove it home today. Is it uncommon to have a shift linkage rattle when in neutral during deceloration with this cam? I talked to Sean and youself at Sebring and Road Atlanta about my pre-cam purchase. I knew I was locked on your cam due to you racing what you sell, and they way you took time out of your race schedule to talk to me and help me understand my header and cam selection. Congrats on a great season, tieing with the Caddie factory boys is something to be proud of. Give Sean, Louis, Tony and the rest of the crew dogs a pat on the back for a job well done from us the corvette fans, See yeah in Sebring. Yes I have the street series with cats . Thanks for your response.

Mike, we thank you. and I will tell the crew what you said.

You did ok with the Streets and the cats so I wouldn't worry about it too much.
did you do a clutch? if so, that might expain the rattle otherwise the cam won't make the shifer rattle.

I agree with you about the 12 hour drive.

For any others don't forget that we offer Pick up and delivery too.

Call any time.

Thanks
