Default question for vararam users

do you think that the protection of having Z06 grilles in front of the intakes outweigh the air intake restriction?

I don't think the screens pose any restrictions at all. If they do, it can't be more than 1/2 of a %

I think most of the benefit of the Vararam is the cold air, and the intake of the Vararam is considerably smaller then the total opening of the fog light area, so I don't think it would be any problem. In fact, I'm looking to do that mod myself in the near future.

yes they will, once you get up to a certain speed, thats why I havent done it with my Vararam. I've been in the satellite dish business going on 20 years, we use to install the big 10' mesh dishes, basically a big screen, light winds will blow through them fine, but when you get strong winds, the holes actually fill up with air and whip the dish around, thats why on a calm day the dish wouldn't move,on a windy day, they would flop around like the old,old solid tin dishes, same principle with a screen door, light breeze will flow through screen, but a heavy wind will slam the door shut on you

I no expert here and if i'm wrong, well i'll be wrong but, air being forced in to something from the same direction as is with the vararam, is quite different from wind whipping in at different directions on an exposed area like a satelitle dish.
Angin, i could be wrong but i believe vararam has tested for this, the faster you go, the better it performs

Default z06 screens

i just put the screens on mine because at this time of year in nj there are alot of leaves blowing around and my vararam was sucking them into the filter.i havent noticed any difference in performance, but englishtown is closed now so ill have to wait till the spring to see if my et's have changed any.i seriously doubt it,the car pulls just as hard as it did without them.at least i wont have leaves or any other debris in my filter

The first time you get a bunch of leaves or paper stuck in the "SCREENED" MAF,,, you will wish you had them!

Screens are good and do not post that muck of a restriction.

I'll give you one more to think of, take a 5 gallon bucket, and pour another 5 gallon bucket of water into the first one as fast as you can, then take a strainer, made out of a screen, and do it again, and you will find it's going to take longer to fill the the bucket with a screen covering it than it will without one. on the other side I totally agree with the other guys about leaves getting to the filter, I actually thought about putting on the screens with the velcro, and then if we go to the track and just pop them back off Ozzie

Air and water don't have the same dynamic resistance, and water is not compressible, air is (until it is supersonic). While there will be some drag, I don't think it is a worry unless you are WAY fast.

well, I guess before you put them on the car, go for a ride and hang one out the window, and watch how much resistance you actually get as the speeds increase, you probably wont have much at speeds under 20, but as the holes fill up, you watch and see how much more resistance your going to get at speeds between 60 and a 100
