Re: C5 Tech, Battery install, Then what? (Evil-Twin)
Thats not to bad, I know this original battery is on borrowed time. One note here, I can't find the optima battery around my town. The exide orbital, same thing, meaning no acid in the battery to leak down onto computer stuff, is $ 129. I have never had a problem with a die hard gold battery, better guarantee, and only $ 80. So I'm wondering here...Skip :chevy
I've never tried this, but you could try one of those devices that supply 9 or 12 volts back through the cigarette lighter. You could also jury rig one from an old radar detector or phone power supply plug and any battery over 9 volts. (I bet 9 v will keep the memories viable.) Make sure you get your polarity right. I think the center electrode is positive, but if I were doing this I would verify with a volt meter. Maybe someone else has done this and give you the benefit of his experience.

I have a 12 volt plug-in from an old fan that I put alligator clips & color coded that I have used on several prior cars (an ASE tech taught me this ) and I hook it up to an old lawn tractor battery & plug into the cig lighter. Never have had to reset anything unless disconnecting to clear codes.
