Default Minor Damage to Body Pan

I just returned from a 6000 mi road trip and noticed that the drivers side carpet was very wet. It finally dawned on me today that during the trip, I had hit something about the size of a softball that was laying in the road. It hit underneath hard enough that I pulled off the road to check for obvious damage. Did not see any obvious damage, so I continued without incident. Today, I checked underneath again and discovered a small gash (approximately 4" long) in the pan directly under the driver's seat. I am certain this is the cause of the water problem. I am looking for suggestions on a DIY fix short of replacing the pan. I have an extended warranty, but doubt if it will help. The car is a 2004 C-5. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Rick

For a quick fix I would pull out seat and dry out carpeting first. Buy some dynomat or roof rubber ice shield stuff from home depot and stick it over the hole on the inside of the car.

On the outside I would rough up the surface and use some JB Weld.

Have you thought about turning it into your insurance company under the comprhensive portion of your coverage?

I don't know/believe that those pans are replacement parts. Therefore, you will likely have to put some kind of patch over the gash.

patch it with some fiber glass it is end grain balsa and wilol let water migrate which is not good. Same system is used in boats to stiiffen the sides. Dry it properly first with a hair dryer

must get dry and patch, dont want water in the balsa.

I made polished aluminum covers for my underpans, they look great.

I should make pattern and offer for sale
