Default CAI for 90/90?

I read in another thread that the Callaway Honker won't work with a 90mm throttle body. Which sucks, given that I want to run a 90/90 eventually. The Honker has been paid for but isn't even here yet.

Ok, so if not the Honker, what's the most effective CAI for use with a 90/90? Vararam? Something else?

I contacted Callaway on this, have not heard back from them. Try contacting them, maybe if there is enough interest they will make an adapter (if it doesn't already exist).

You can do a google on Corvette Central, Ecklers or Mid America. I would call them and ask about that. Thats a good question.. You should look Into the Hurricane Intake as well. I hope It works out for you.

I have a Honker on my car with the 90/90, it does work. The angle of the tb is slightly upward at the inlet so the hood liner on my car has been clearanced to make sure nothing is rubbing.

How did you fit the coupling on the larger throttle body? I was told it didn't fit, and it barely fits on my stocker.

I have had both off and on a few times with same coupler. I would go out and measure but the 90 is out for porting.

In fact, I have used the same Blackwing, Halltech bridge, and coupler for LS1 , LS6, LS2 and FAST intakes- both 78 and 90 mm. TBs. No difference. The 85 mm MAF creates some issues with couplers but that is all on the fwd end of the bridge.

I have a stock unit in the other room, if anyone has access to a 90 we can clear this up once and for all.

Just measured, 3-15/16" diameter at the outside of the little ridge where the air duct would connect.

It fits on there just fine. The TB's have the same OD I believe.

I also pulled a Callaway Honker off the shelf and double checked. It fits the LS2 TB nicely.

I suspect the confusion is due to the fact that the Callaway moves the MAF up top to just before the TB and the MAF diameters (2) and TB (2) iterations have not been fully considered.
Worst case a coupler swap, and you can accomplish most anything.

Not True !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have the Honker on my Fast/LS2 setup. You just have to ask them for their modification kit or get your own. Basically you need one of the rubber air birdges. Then you just plug your passenger valve cover ine into it like all LS2 motors.

Do you have a Callaway part number? I may be this is the point of confusion. That would also help out with my other problem, how to keep the PCV system operational and behind the MAF.

Here is part of an email that should help.....

we have used silicone couplers to install Honkers in C5's with FAST intake manifold and 90 mm throttle bodies. We plumb the crankcase ventilation hose from the valve cover into the coupler, installing an air fitting into the coupler. That hose normally connects to the throttle body in a stock C5. The coupler (Callaway part number: 203.60.2510) is priced at $34.95 and the fitting (Callaway part number: 503.62.0000) is priced at $1.50. You would locate the hole for the fitting and install it where you want it.

Thanks for your inquiry.

The OD of the TPIS 90mm TB is not the same as a stocker. I had one hell of a time of heating and stretching my coupler. Can't comment on the other 90mm tb's out there, I got a hell of a deal on the tpis. You can fit anything to to the 90mm if you are using plastic or silicon as a coupler. Heat and patience are your friend.
