Default Jack points for a C5?

Where are you guys jacking up your C5's for "driveway" service? I'm going to pull the wheels and inner fenders for duct installs and was wondering if the jack points where the lift pucks go is OK, or is it better to jack at the suspension points. Tried a search and didn't find much.

If you do not have the jacking pucks you will need to use the suspension jacking points. If you use the jack points where the pads go without the pads in place you run the risk of damaging the side skirts that wrap underneath the car. Hope this helps you out.

Default hockey pucks ?

ok, i am still learning. is there a place i can look on my car for the jacking pucks? ie are they supposed to be stored on board somewhere? if i cant find them, can they be obtained from the dealer? i have already decided to let the dealer change my oil after reading all of the posts and different things i have to worry about. how about checking a wheel brake set, one wheel at a time? can i jack up a corner using the puck in some magic spot to take the wheel off? if so where is that magic spot? i would appreciate as simple a response as possible or where to look. i have read all of the posts and followed the links but i am not sure i read where i can jack a corner. i have the service manuals so this weekend i will give them a look.

thanks everyone. i don't think i could own a c5 without this site! all of my questions have been answered so far.

There are slots behind the rocker panel, front and rear both sides.
You can use hockey pucks or put rails along the frame so you can lift from anywhere.

There is no factory included lifting adapter as such. You just need something to put between the frame and the jack so as to not crush fiberglass rocker panel. Old hockey pucks work great although they are not as trick as custom, billet, titanium whatever$.

1. Any damaging effects to any part of the C5 if.....

just one wheel is lifted off the ground to change a tire or brake calipers

using just one of the lifting points where there are slots in the frame rails to insert where a "puck" (whether rubber with a Home Depot eyebolt, billet $alloy$, or small section of 2"x4" with an eyebolt (as described by one of the esteemed members of this Forum in another thread, (that I could not find)) at that lifting point),

Will any damage be caused to any other part of the car other than the frame which I understand has a light gauge wall which can be dimpled by using a puck that does not spread the load on the frame rail sufficiently.

2. If I have misunderstood the dimpling issue, I stand corrected.

Very informative. I've been doing this all wrong, lifting with a hydraulic jack from the center of the crossmembers. My bad.

I don't think there is anything wrong with that if you can get under there (may have to drive up on boards or ?) and you don't bugger up the aluminum.
