I have a BB sized chip in my windshield, toward the passenger side, and was curious about buying a windshield repair kit off ebay ( Item number: 33005404179). My windshield has a couple of tiny cracks beginning to spread from it, and I would like to stop it from getting bigger. Anybody had any experience with this?
I do windshield chip repair as a part of my business. In my opinion, you would be much better off taking it to someone that does this for a living. Glass is a funny thing to work with. When they have the little spider veins running out from the center to get best results, you need to drill a small hole in the center of the chip. The epoxy resins that are used in professional chip repair are UV (ultraviolet light) activated and the lamps are about $100 themselves. Most chip repairs at a pro shop run between $35 to $50 and a usually 100% refundable by your insurance company. I would take it to a shop and save yourself alot of aggrevation.

As a former insurance adjuster I agree. Hopefully the cracks extending from the chip can be arrested with a professional repair...otherwise you and/or your insurance company will have to replace the windshield.
I've had 2 windshields repaired over the years for similar cracks - one is my current other car. The repairs are barely noticeable and prevent the windshield from eventually cracking across. If the crack is repairable it's well worth doing it. As said, if the repair cannot prevent further damage then you're no worse off and the insurance (in my state - comprehensive) will cover a replacement.

That would be your best bet, there should be a couple professionals in your area who could do that.
Thank you for all the input. I'll look in the yellow pages to find a pro. I love doing things myself, but realize that some things are best left to the professionals.
Sometimes it works SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T. If you have comprehensive insurance your insurance co will REPLACE the windshield.
GEICO even fixes small chips at NO COST TO YOU. Why I have zero deductable comprehensive insurance. Had windshield replaced at NO CHARGE including new weatherstripping on my C5 convertable.
I've used the 'Pennzoil Fix A Windshield', to repair chips in several windshields with great results. The chips I've repaired, did not spread, and the repairs are almost invisable. I bought the kits at Wal-Mart for $10. They have saved me the cost of several windshields. I take one with me when I travel.
