I had steel braided brake lines installed on Monday w/ brake fluid bleed/exchange performed. 2 days later I get "service ABS, and service Traction Control system" w/ the corresponding yellow lights. So I pulled up the above code. I erased it, then the next day, the same thing popped up. Same code again. When the yellow lights are on, my TCS doesn't work either. This code/lights pop up about every other drive or so.
Lastly, I should add that I had new speakers installed about 3 weeks ago, but this code started right after the brake line deal, so doubt the speakers playing an electrical role in this.
I just had a pm from another member who said the same thing happened to him too! My lines are the Russell lines though. So far it's been just the RF sensor code and none of the others. I was hoping maybe it was just a bad sensor from the install. We'll see.
BTW, the other member said he had talked w/ a GM tech who was familiar w/ this problem from SS brake lines. Apparently, conductors/power lines poorly shielded leak electrical signals which interfere w/ the vettes sensors when these SS lines are in place. Cure was to go back to OEM lines. I'd hate to do that at this point.
I'm interested to hear how this goes and what you learn... I have had the same problem, but not SS related... I do believe its a fault in a sensor or ground however.
I don't have any good analysis to add at this time however, so just observing for now.
I had many codes C1224 c1228 c1235 I pulled the plastic sheild away from the harness and found the harness was pretty messed up looking.
As I thoroughly inspected the harness I found one wire was broken. I repaired the wire wraped it back up cleared the code now all is great again.
I'll be dropping my car off this evening to have a look. I'm hoping for an easy fix, but I'm also aware I may have to go back to stock lines to avoid this
I spoke w/ Mike Norris about the problem and he offered to send my the Goodrich lines for a try instead. I might end up doing that if nothing can be found, before going back to stock!
This is promising news! I was reading through the sticky on electrical, but didn't seem to have the same issues with grounding (as best I could tell). I had not checked at the wheels...
Robiwan mentioned in a prior post about grounding the line. I'll see what my mech says and have him try that too. I suppose you just attach a wire from the end of the line to the frame?
the grounding issue: check the "sticky" thread on electrical issues at the top of tech... its very long, but covers well known grounding issues. I think it has helped others with this same problem.
yep, I've read it, mine look clean. However the "coincidence" of SS line install followed by the code 2 days later makes it very likely to related to the SS line rather than a dirty ground. We'll see soon.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS WHEN I INSTALLED THE SS BREAKLINES. I JUST CLARE THE CODES AND GO ON. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS THE PROBLEM.BUT MY BROTHER HAS THE SAME SETUP THE SAME CAR AND THE SAME LINES HE HAS HAD NO PROBLEM.
I had the exact same code and problem happen to me!!! a couple hours after i installed the PIAA 1100X Head Lamps!
I went home and reconnected my negative battery cable and tightened it down correctly (apparently i didn't thread it right the 1st time...)
Problem went away and hasn't came back since. I would double check your ground connections before you spend any money... it's possibly a fix, and it's free...
I've checked the grounds, clean so far. However, again as stated above, my problem began immediately after the SS brake line install (within 2 days), so it's very unlikely to be related to a ground issue all of a sudden at the same time. It's also unlikely to be due to a sensor malfunction, but he'll check that too just in case. It's probably like the GM TSB states that these lines can in some cases cause static build up and make the sensor throw a code. We'll see shortly, but I'm hoping grounding the line will do it. I'll post back as soon as I know.
Thanks for the input so far though!
He installed a braided wire which he attached to the steel brake line close to the fitting by the caliper, then ran the line parallel to that brake line and attached it to the frame up by the top of the line. So far after driving the car 3 times, no codes from that RF sensor. Hopefully that will do the trick.
What Dan said is correct. The C1226 has still not returned to date. However on only one episode last week, I had a C1225 show up which is the LF wheel speed variation sensor code! I erased it and thus far it has not returned. We'll see, but if that one starts I might try the tin foil wrapped around the line w/ duct tape mod which another member shared w/ me. I'll let u all know if it comes back, but for now it appears the RF sensor has been fixed.
